Have you ever looked in the face of someone with whom you desperately want to communicate, whether to share the Gospel or ask what is on their heart or just get to know them, but been frustrated by your inability to communicate in their language? This trip is all about moving from frustration to the thrill of hearing another language coming out of your mouth and seeing understanding in another person’s face. It’s about learning to express God’s truth and communicate from the heart in Spanish.
While no Spanish skills are required to join this team, it is not a trip for beginners in ministry. If you are passionate about communicating in Spanish and see it as a necessary part of what God has in mind for your future… join us in the adventure and challenge of learning to speak Spanish.
Mornings will be spent in language school. There will be an intermediate and beginner group. Team members will be assigned to the group that fits their current language skills. Afternoons, evenings, and weekends will be devoted to ministry activities that will give everyone constant opportunities to use their new Spanish skills. Ministry options include hospital and prison ministry, helping at orphanages, witnessing to tourists in downtown areas, and translating the Global Encounters kids’ program into Spanish.
We are also tentatively planning a several-day excursion out to the jungle where we will put on a kids’ program and help install water filters - more great ways to put those new-found Spanish skills to work!
Daniel Cavanaugh, Elizabeth Fox, and Steven Curry will lead the team, with Nathan and Julie Terrell as the group’s hosts.
