Guadalajara Homeschool Mission Trip

L in Mex

The Need

When Jesus was swarmed by children, He welcomed them into His arms and loved them. Christ in now just as eager to welcome precious children to Himself, but since they can no longer see Him, someone must go as His hands and feet to show His love.

Liberally spread across Guadalajara, Mexico, are some of the most bruised, abandoned and hurting hearts in Mexico. Some have never seen the faces of their parents, for they are the rejected option left behind when their parents had to choose between them and drugs, immorality, or selfishness. Some, in quiet moments, stop to think of their parent sitting in jail. Some only have memories of parents now dead. Some have families but still desperately need to know the love of Jesus. The Savior waits with open arms to embrace them and call them His own. Who will tell them He’s there? Whose love will mirror Christ’s and be evidence to a child that God is real and good?

Come make an eternal difference in Guadalajara, Mexico! Has Christ captured your heart with His love? Share that love with those who desperately need it: the orphan, those on the streets, the rehabilitating addict, and the child eager to learn of Jesus. Join the ranks of Christians through the ages who have practiced true and unadulterated religion. Do not miss out on a ministry close to the heart of God!

Team Activities

This trip includes a variety of ministry experiences, such as working with children in orphanages, ministry at a rehab center, street witnessing, practical work projects to help out missionaries or a church, kids’ programs at churches, and the possibility of a three or four-day kids’ program through one of the churches. The children’s programs include Bible lessons, character lessons based on Scripture, crafts, games, drama, and songs.

The purpose of all the ministry activities is not only to teach through words, but also to build relationships through which we communicate Christ’s love and truth, thereby drawing people to want to know more of the Savior whose love motivates our lives.

Training

While you are in Mexico the Global Encounters staff will train you in the children’s program curriculum, coach you in sharing the Gospel, and teach you how to interact within the culture and language of Mexico. You will return from Guadalajara with a toolbox of ministry and cross-cultural communication skills that you can put to use anywhere.

In addition, as you show Christ to others, you will find that your relationship with Him will be challenged and strengthened. As you teach others of His love, your own experience of Him will take on whole new dimensions.

Team Leadership

Global Encounters will send three team leaders, Ben Robertson, Elizabeth Fox, and Ben Nicholson (tentative), to work with your group, train you for the ministries activities, provide accountability and mentoring for the young people (especially those who are not traveling with their parents), and handle the logistics of your time in Mexico.
