Ecuador=Relationships
Can a few weeks or even a few hours change another person’s life? Yes! Long-term impact can be achieved in a short period of time when someone genuinely sees Christ in you. The main focus of this trip will be showing Christ and teaching truth as we build relationships with the warm, energetic people of Ecuador. A grateful pastor told the previous Ecuador team, “Other teams came to build things. You came to build relationships.” A translator who interacted with the team every waking moment said: “After hanging out with you guys and spending time with you, I have a desire for personal devotions like I never had before.”
Ecuador is ripe for a team of passionate believers who genuinely love Jesus and love people. Leave your comfort zone behind and be prepared to watch lives change.
Team Activities
In Ecuador, your entire day, every day, becomes an opportunity to demonstrate what you teach as you live life with the Ecuadorians. For the first half of the trip the team will be working with Youth World Quito Quest, focusing on ministry to children and teens. The second half of the trip the team will focus its ministry in Esmeraldas, a coastal city overflowing with palm trees and bananas. While there, the team will teach several children’s programs. These programs are a fun and energetic way to teach practical, Biblical character qualities and to help children get to know God better through skits, stories, crafts and games. Plans also include youth ministry and teaching in schools, orphanages, and anywhere else God opens a door for us to share His love with others.
Training
Team members will receive training in the children’s program curriculum, coaching in sharing the Gospel, and basic instruction in the culture, history, and language of Ecuador. You will return from this trip with a toolbox of ministry and cross-cultural communication skills that you can put to use anywhere. As you show Christ to others, you will also find that your relationship with Him will be challenged and strengthened. As you teach others of His love, your own experience of Him will take on whole new dimensions.
Team Leadership
The experienced leadership for this team - Daniel Cavanaugh, Elizabeth Fox, Tim Forman and Amy Cook - have worked in many Latin American countries, including Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, and Mexico. All four of them love international ministry, love people, and more than anything else, love Jesus.
