Spanning cities filled with vibrant color and personalities to monochromatic hills blanketed with the tiny huts of the impoverished, Peru is a mission field ripe for harvest. The people of Peru are warm, affectionate, and hospitable, but they need Jesus Christ. You have a role to play.
Encounter the animated people of the capital city, Lima, where houses show off paint’s wildest colors and hearts are open to the Good News of salvation.
Slip away to the outskirts of Lima and find the vast expanse of shantytowns and the sweet-hearted children living there. These children not only need the bread you bring them to fill their aching stomachs, they also need the love and salvation of Jesus Christ you can share with them to fill their hungry souls.
Launch into the adventure of a lifetime as the team explores a new area of ministry in Pucallpa, a city on the fringes of the Amazon Jungle. An area once isolated by the Andes Mountains and Amazon rainforest until a highway was built in 1945, Pucallpa now boasts a population of 250,000, although a large percentage of them live in poverty. It promises to be rich in opportunities to serve and minister.
Peru is one of Global Encounter’s most beloved destinations as team after team has come to treasure her people in their hearts. Seize your role. Be the next ambassador for Jesus to share and demonstrate the matchless love of Christ with the wonderful people of Peru.
The team will be putting on a week-long children’s program that focuses on the Gospel and Biblical character qualities. It’s a high-energy program that is fun to teach and presents truth through stories, crafts, skits, and games. Equipped with bread, balloons, the Gospel and love to spare, the team will engage in shantytown outreach outside Lima as well as minister to the poor of Pucallpa. Other activities may include teaching in public and private schools, street witnessing, and practical service projects.
Team members will receive training in the children’s program curriculum, coaching in sharing the Gospel, and basic instruction in the culture, history, and language of Peru. You will return from this trip with a toolbox of ministry and cross-cultural communication skills that you can put to use anywhere. As you show Christ to others, you will also find that your relationship with Him will be challenged and strengthened. As you teach others of His love, your own experience of Him will take on whole new dimensions.
Steven Curry and Elizabeth Fox will be leading the team. Both of them have a love for international ministry, experience working in Latin-American countries, and a heart to train and disciple the team members who participate in the trip. Pastor Salazar will be the team’s host in Peru.
