Dena’s Perspective on International Ministry:
“For me, ministry is largely relational. As God flows into us, His children, we overflow His love to others, resulting in ministry. As an outgrowth of my dad’s vision, we began international ministry trips as a family years ago, and continue to make two trips a year to Mexico. These trips have been the foundation for my perspective on international ministry that continues to grow and expand with each new experience.

“It is possible to be in fruitful ministry and never leave my hometown. However, I would miss out on an aspect of God - that He is infinitely creative in His design of the world, of people, languages, cultures, and terrain. International ministry makes it possible to experience dynamic, sincere worship with believers, still communicating somehow despite the language barrier. Moved by extreme poverty, but also challenged by incredible faith, my relationship with and view of God has exploded through my involvement in international missions.

“I have been so blessed to grow up with solid Bible teaching, rich resources, and full freedoms. Most countries are not so fortunate. Just as in the parable of the talents, I have a chance to sow and harvest treasures for an eternal impact, not only in the lives of the people of Mexico or Peru, but also in the lives of my fellow harvesters, and in my own life as well. Pure ministry is a result of relationship, first with God and then with others. I am grateful to be a part of Global Encounters, a ministry that prioritizes building relationships while serving.”
