“Climb under the desk, over the chair, under the other desk and weave through the line of chairs.” While this may seem like some unique evacuation procedure we have been diligently practicing, these were actually the instructions that we gave to swarms of enthusiastic children tonight as we used a blindfolded obstacle course to illustrate the concepts of authority and obedience at the Children’s Seminar. 95 children joined us at the seminar tonight, which was a huge increase from the night before. The air (what little of it there is at such a high altitude) couldn’t have been filled with more excitement and noise! I was on Game Team 2 with Michael, and we used the blindfolded obstacle course as well as charades to illustrate the concepts of authority and obedience. They were all very willing to participate, and hearing their answers to the questions showed that they were obviously grasping the concepts we were trying to get across. Seeing the children’s excitement and enthusiasm was definitely worth the hearing we may have lost from the experience!

Earlier today, we visited a place where rich blue skies, dramatic green mountains and a mass of colorful structures all combined to make an incredible feast for the eyes. We were at an elevation of 13,000 feet, and were able to get an incredible view of the entire city of Quito. The incredible view of the city provided a stunning panorama of colors and textures; but more than that, it represented a city full of beautiful, precious individuals who need Jesus’ love. We have been privileged with an incredible task here in Quito, though many times I feel like those blindfolded children navigating through desks and chairs, we are equipped with Jesus’ victory and I pray that His love will burst through us in all the time we spend with these precious people.
