Friday and Allegiances with Cockroaches
This is the single.php page.
Ruth and Elizabeth’s luggage arrived yesterday! Hooray!!!!! God truly answered prayers. After days with no news of even the location of the bags, we were starting to think they were gone forever. Thank you to everyone who was praying!
Phrases of the day:
“No soy chaparrita, pero no lo puedo alcanzar.” (I’m not short, I just can’t reach.) - Katie, trying to get her clothes out on the clothesline.
“¡Lo que digas!” (Spanish equivalent of “whatever!”) - Elizabeth
From instructions for using pronouns in Spanish: “You will not use the personal ‘a’ with strays, nesting birds, alley cats, squirrels in your back yard, insects, cockroaches, and any other animals with whom you do not wish to form an allegiance.” Huh?!?!?
Nathan: “Youngest goes first.” Amy: “Hey, that’s not fair! I’ve been working all my life to get older!”
“You need more brains to your oxygen!” - Ruth trying to explain why the homework is difficult at high altitudes. At least we think that’s what she was talking about. We’re not sure.
It’s been a great first week of language school! We all feel that we have made significant progress in understanding and speaking the language. We still have a long way to go, but it’s promising progress so far.

We praise the Lord that you got all of your stuff! Btw, what in the world is “lizard milk”???
