Day Two in the Ukraine

This is the single.php page.

dsc_0456Well, the girls awoke to see the cow again on her morning walk, this time a man was walking it. =) We’ve all decided that she must be making her daily route to deliver fresh milk.

Breakfast was great. Ham, Cheese, (unrefrigerated) yogurt (peach by the way! =)) plums and of course bread. So after a great word by Luke we headed out to learn more about the culture.

dsc_0308Our First stop was in a big Plaza where we went to the Golden Gate. Nope. Not at all like the one in San Francisco. This Golden Gate was the gateway to the city for dignitaries and Royalty. It had a chapel on top and is still functional.

Next we walked to a large open square where we saw a beautiful church named St. Sophia. (see group photo). We then went shopping down St Andrews Street, which was longer than any street in San Fransisco. The vendors were lined on the sidewalks. It took the girls a good two hours to get down the street through all the vendors, where the boys were patiently waiting to go inside the restaurant. =)

dsc_0318Lunch was, by the way, was like Hometown Buffet, only nicer. The bathroom, (at least the girls’) was a hole in the ground… which was interesting! After lunch we went on a beautiful walk around the city. We went to an underground mall, then back on the subway and onto the bus home. It was a great day. Can’t wait to work with kids!

Facts-

Fact #1: Stephanie was in a brawl! Two men started fighting on the bus and poor Steph got her toe stomped on. She and her toe are doing fine.
Fact #2: Joel is a good man to have on your side. He quickly came to the rescue and broke up the fight.
Fact #3: One in every five pregnancies here are aborted. Pray, Pray and Pray some more!
Fact #4: They have amazing produce here!
Fact #5: It’s STILL hot here.

  1. It looks like you guys are having some good times and the experience of a lifetime. Praise God for the work He will be doing while you are there. Now, I see a photo here in a flowered mini van (VW Bus?). Don’t tell me you are going to a Grateful Dead concert.
