We’ve completed the winding 6-hour drive to Ch’ol — something that could be done in a couple hours on a U.S. Interstate but takes six hours on winding Chiapas roads lined with banana trees, scenic vistas of green valleys, and the occasional small roadside dwelling. Unlike the mild San Cris which is at 7,000 feet, it’s quite hot and humid down here around 1,000 feet. The team is in good spirits and health and glad for air conditioning in the trucks. We’ll be off the grid until we’re back near San Cris Friday night.
